January 9-13th

This week we had fun with Water, Ice and Snow!

We opened up our January sensory bin and searched for letters in the "snow".

In one of our math centers we practiced ordering numbers and decorating snowman with the correct amount of buttons.

We used ink pads and stamps to practice letter recognition for some of our winter letters.

We learned about the letter Ww and read a book titled When Water Freezes.  After we read our book together, we took a first hand look at frozen water.

With no chance of snow in the forecast, we decided to make our own snow.  Ms. Didi helped us get our measurements right so we could play in "snow".

Letter Ii is for ice, icicles, and igloo!

Our ordering skills were tested as we lined up some "icicles" from shortest to longest.

We also read, built and wrote the letter Ii.

On the rug center we had fun playing in our "igloos" with our friends.

We ended our week with an ice painting activity and a snow cone snack!

Happy New Year!

Welcome Back!
We hope you and your families enjoyed the winter break and were excited to come back to school! We definitely missed these smiling faces!

On Wednesday we were glad to see our friends. We talked about our Christmas break while we worked on word puzzles and built with Legos.

We drew a journal page about our Christmas.  During share time children shared their page with the class. We got to hear about a Penguala, Roblox, video games, an American Girl, a crane and trucks,  an Ariel pillow, a blue Lego airplane with small pieces, a Peppa Pig that can't stop giggling, a Hot Wheels garage, and a Runaway Log game. The children LOVED sharing about their Christmas!

We also worked on our January calendar and enjoyed browsing our new book selections on the classroom bookshelf.

On Thursday and Friday we learned about the letter Ss and did everything SNOW!

We made snowflakes.

We read Who Is Out And About In The Snow? and searched for the letter Ss as we read.

On the rug center, we prepared for a "snowball" battle with our friends.
It was FUN!

We had music with Ms. Becca on Friday.

After music, we read Huggly's Snow Day. We made our own snowmen with a glue and shaving cream mixture.

While we waited for our snowmen to dry, we got out the shaving cream and had some fun writing letters and playing in it.

We also enjoyed some time on the playground with our friends this week.

We hope your new year is off to a great start. Thanks for a fun week at WIPP!

HAPPY
