January 23-27

This week began by learning about opposites.  We read a few books, searched for opposites, and played an Opposite Memory Match game during our center time.

Who is happy? Who is grouchy?
Look at the teamwork on our rug center.

On Tuesday, we read, built, and wrote the Letter "Ee".

E is for Elmer the Elephant!

Ms. Jen read several Elmer books from the public library this week. We loved hearing the stories of Elmer the Elephant. We practiced our fine motor skills by creating our very own patchwork elephants.

Letter Rr is for Rocket!
We loved counting down numbers to make our rockets ready for blast off.

We played our first "Race to the Top" game.  Children took turns on the spinner as we graphed our results and practiced writing our letters.

We also started to prepare for a new month by making our February placemats and we worked on an art project to decorate the hallway bulletin board.

Thanks for a GRRRRREEEEEAT week!

January 17-20

It was quite the week at WIPP!
We learned about letter Qq, letter Zz and enjoyed Pajama Day!

We painted q-tip quilts.
We also read the book Quilt Counting and created our own colorful class quilt.

In our math center, we learned that a pattern is something that repeats itself. We enjoyed creating our own patterns with snowmen noses (carrots) and predicting patterns with our colorful bears.

We concentrated on letter recognition and practiced our writing skills by filling our writing trays with cocoa mix. It was fun and smelled delicious!

Our reading glasses helped us read about animals that hibernate. We learned that bears, bats, ladybugs, and chipmunks hibernate, but humans do not.

We also learned about the letter Zz and made our very own zig-zag patterns for our toy cars to drive on.
Outside fun with our friends!

Friday was Pajama Day!
We snuggled up by our friends and enjoyed some popcorn and a movie.

What a fun week at WIPP!
