Week 11: November 14-18

This week we focused on Thanksgiving, letter Tt, and talked about the word "harvest."
We created a harvest pumpkin salt painting. The first step was to trace the pumpkin picture with glue. After we covered all the lines, we added salt to make the lines stand out.
We got to work with Thanksgiving shaped pattern blocks.
We worked together on the rug as we explored some new barn and farm toys.
The next step of our harvest pumpkin craft was to add color to our salt paintings.

Look at these beautiful Harvest Pumpkins!

We practiced our pencil grip and our writing skills as we worked on our "Pumpkin Counting" books. We also showed off our literacy skills by reading these books!
On the rug, we were thankful for a new harvest of corn. We enjoyed collecting the kernels as we picked them off the ears of corn.

PUMPKIN PIE DAY!!!
Wednesday was pumpkin pie day. We spent our day in the Fellowship Hall with the other Pre-K classes.
We played with pumpkin play-dough.

We cut out food for our Thanksgiving plates.

We made our own Thanksgiving sticker books.

We made real pumpkin pies!

Finally, we got to enjoy our pumpkin pies!

We also had great teamwork this week as we built tall Lego towers.
We practiced our counting skills with corn.

We made scarecrows out of different shapes.
We reviewed our letter Tt words for the week.

On Friday, we celebrated with our Thanksgiving program. We hope you enjoyed the show!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Week 10: November 7-10

Our week was short, but filled with lots of learning fun!
We began the week by creating a new class book titled I Am Thankful. Each child dictated one thing they are thankful for and illustrated a page for our book.

 We Are Thankful!

We read a book titled Leaf Man. This sparked an interesting nature walk where children collected things from nature to make their own leaf creations.

To prepare for Oatland Island's visit, we reviewed nocturnal animals this week.

We had fun on the rug center as we played a bat game. Our bats "caught" food. We sorted the food into two groups: food bats would eat and food bats would not eat.
We had to cut, think, and glue as we decided which animals are nocturnal.

We also had fun making nocturnal owls out of pinecones.

Oatland Island came to visit!
We were excited to see flying squirrels, an owl, and an opposum. We got to have a close look at the animals and ask questions about them.

Since we had off school to Vote on Tuesday and to celebrate Veteran's Day Friday, it seemed fitting to learn about the letter Vv this week!

Thanks for another fun week at WIPP! We look forward to next week and our special Thanksgiving program we are preparing for!
