March 6-10

We continued celebrating Dr. Suess and enjoyed reading many of his books this week! We loved taking our shoes off to read The Foot Book.

After we read the book, we used our shoes to measure ourselves. We had to make sure our shoes lined up toe to heel to get an accurate measurement of our friends.

We also painted some wacky feet!
A Leprechaun came to our classroom last week, but he quickly disappeared.  We decided to make a Leprechaun trap to catch that tricky fellow!

On Wednesday things got WaCkY!
It all began with that shoe on the wall!

Our classroom was wacky, our clothes were wacky, and our activities were wacky!

On our rug center, we made the wackiest potato heads we could come up with!

We searched for some wacky things in our "That's Silly" pictures.
We decorated our wacky feet to make them REALLY wacky!

Look at those wacky toes!

Another Dr. Suess book we enjoyed this week was One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

We loved going fishing for letters and numbers on the rug!

Look what we caught! Children were so excited that our trap worked! We decided to keep our Leprechaun for a bit, but promise to release him before St. Patrick's Day!

Thanks for a fun and wacky week at WIPP!

February 27-March 3

We've been counting, and counting, and counting our way to the
100th day of school!
We used our 100 mats to help us make necklaces with 100 fruit loops.
Ms. Jen & Ms. Didi hid 100 Hershey Kisses around the classroom. Our 100's chart helped keep track of the Hershey Kisses we found. We had to have great teamwork to find them all!

Counting spots and gumballs all the way to 100!
On our rug center, groups were given 100 cups and had to create a structure. We had some pretty creative ideas and lots of helping hands!

Thank you for sending in all the ingredients to our 100th day special snack!  We used them to count groups of 10 for each of the different ingredients. That made 100 things in our snack!

100th day crowns!
March 1st is a special Bulgarian holiday called "Baba Marta" or "Grandma March Day." Ms. Didi told us the story about Grandma March and we made Martenitsa bracelets to celebrate the tradition.  We also each received an authentic Martenitsa from Bulgaria that Ms. Didi's mother mailed to us.
Curious about Baba Marta Day?  Check out this link to read the whole story:

Thank you for the Martenitsas!

March 2nd was Dr. Suess's birthday! We celebrated with Crazy Hat Day!

Crazy or cool, wear your favorite hat to school!
We made our own Cat in the Hats during center time.

This week was so much fun,
we loved all the things that were done!

We will continue our Suess celebrations next week as we read more Dr. Suess books and get Wacky on Wednesday!
