Week 2: September 6th-9th

The second week of school was all about getting into a routine after an
exciting first week!
We enjoyed having the children show us what they were capable of doing. We practiced many preschool skills and worked a lot on following directions this week.

The scissor skills were impressive in our class!

We talked about the letter "Aa." Children read the letter, built the letter (with colored construction paper parts), and wrote the uppercase and lowercase "Aa." We also sang a silly song about Alice and an alligator, brainstormed words that begin with the letter "Aa," and carefully looked at our first names to sort them by those who have a letter "Aa" and those who did not have the letter "Aa" in their first name.

We spent time in our centers this week painting, dressing up, and decorating our
 "Mini Me" friends.

In Spanish, we had fun singing songs, using rhythm sticks, and added the word "Adios!" to our "Aa" words.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a big hit in our class! We've read the story several times and this week we ate a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom snack.

We were thankful for some sunny days this week and continued to be all smiles during our time on the playground.

Some children got creative with their Lego building skills. We spotted a dinosaur and several buildings on the rug.

It was a lot of fun celebrating another friend's birthday!

Thank you for the special birthday snack!
Toward the end of the week, we finished up our "Mini Me" friends and got to tell a short story of what we would do with our "Mini Me." We plan to put these stories in a book to share with our class.

We started identifying numbers and worked on following directions. The children continue to impress us with their listening skills.

We had a fun-filled Friday!
After decorating our schools, we had a quick circle time and got right into our centers.
Children loved exploring in the sand table.  Many were surprised that our regular looking table had sand and toys inside it!

We also practiced writing our names on a dry erase sheet that had our pictures. Once we finished writing our names, children got creative with their pictures.

We had music for our first time this week! We sang songs, moved around to a drum beat and got to see Ms. Becca play an autoharp!

We ended our fun Friday with a trip to the playground and enjoyed playing with our friends!

Thank you for a wonderful week at WIPP!

First Week of School!

We had a fun first week of school!
We talked about our first day feelings and came ready for school with our kissing hands!

We talked about preschool rules and got right into our routine this week! Each child did a great job of coming into the classroom and completing the arrival activity.

When we finished our arrival activities, we got to explore the toys on the rug.

We cleaned up and prepared for our circle time. During circle time,
we picked a "leader" to help us do the pledge, the calendar, and the class count
to make sure all our friends were here.
We got to enjoy our first day of Spanish this week, too!

At centers, we talked about letters and our names this week. We decorated ordinary, plain letters to make them colorful and happy!

We learned how to properly use glue bottles by squirting "Just a dot, not a lot!"

We got to explore with magnets. It was fun to build, discover shapes, colors,
and use our manners while working together.

After centers, we cleaned up for a much anticipated part of our day, snack time!
It's fun to find our placemats each day and enjoy a snack with our friends.

After snack, we packed up our things!

We only got to go outside two days this week, but we had a lot
of smiles on the playground!

What a fun-filled first week we had! Our school year is off to a great start!
